It is not just about gardening, but also about cultivating new friendships with other people and with nature.
In Spring 2014, discussion about the community garden concept grew out of the Jamestown/Valley City Community Leadership program. A few individuals who had been a part of that program laid the groundwork for developing what is now the Jamestown Community Gardens.
In the spring of 2015, we were able to connect a willing land-owner with the excited leadership. A unique partnership was formed between Jamestown Community Gardens and Temple Baptist Church. We broke ground for our first growing season and 12 plots were rented.
We are now in our ninth season and in a better position to continue to expand our outreach into the community.
